Finding the Right Size Ceiling Fan

If you’re installing a fan in a small room (8’ x 10’), then a 30-inch fan is best. 42-inch ceiling fans should be installed in medium-sized rooms (12’ x 12’), while large rooms (18’ x 20’) should have about a 52-inch ceiling fan.

Ceiling Fan Installation & Wiring

For safety reasons, you should never install a fan right above a bed. The blades of your ceiling fan should be at least 8 inches below the ceiling, 8 to 9 feet above the floors, and at least 18 inches away from the wall. You can always consult with a licensed electrician before installing a ceiling fan.
